Would knowing that it was partly fiction taken away from my enjoyment?
Probably not (although it would have been more honest).

One thing I have found is people do tend to lie and exaggerate about
their life when you talk to them so why not in their memoirs.

One question I would ask is, is it easier to get nonfiction published in the
states (I live in the UK by the way) than fiction? And is 'faction' even harder
to sell?
