The Dramatic Presentation nominations for the Hugo have just been announced, and it's embarrassment of riches time.
Greg, among others, will be happy to hear that "Batman Begins" has been nominated for Best Dramatic Presentation--Long Form. I am too. But then, it's also competing against "Serenity" and "Wallace and Gromit: Curse Of The Were-Rabbit," among others. While the re-telling of Batman's origin is fantastic, I also have to keep in mind that I loved the Joss Whedon-directed and -scr1pted movie as well. Further, having a win for "Serenity" would give Joss Whedon a slight bit of leverage in pumping out a few more films from the "Firefly" universe. Then again, who could find fault with honoring the newest adventure of my favorite cheese-loving inventor and his long-suffering chum?
In the Best Dramatic Presentation--Short Form category, "Battlestar Galactica" is represented with "Pegasus." The revival of "Doctor Who," though, has been honored with several nominations. The episodes in question are "Dalek," "Father's Day," and "The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances" (honored as one nomination). Even so, these shows could lose out to "Jack-Jack Attack," which appeared on "The Incredibles" DVD.
So, it's finger-crossing time.
