If we're talking beer, one possibility that's in the Gaslamp Quarter is The Field (544 Fifth Avenue, between Market and Island). It's an "authentic Irish pub" whose only drawbacks might be noise and the temptation for people at the dinner to have one too many beers (or something stronger).

Other possibilities are the Mediterranean place, the Buca di Beppo at 705-6th Avenue (Italian), Sushi Itto (another chain, but does California variations on sushi) at 409 F Street, or Chopahn Authentic Afghan Cuisine at 750-6th Avenue (some of the meat dishes are a little bit more expensive than others).

Maybe it's time to find out which restaurant people preferred, and when Greg would be free for dinner. Then reservations can be made depending on which restaurant is chosen.
