: On page 103 of the paperback edition you make reference to how SIS was created after WWII. In point of fact the SIS was created long before and that attitude was reflected in its treatment of the SOE. The Special Operation Executive was created by Churchill to "Set Europe Ablaze" and that was seen by the SIS as a direct challenge to their turf and a thing that would make collecting intelligence behind enemy lines extremely difficult.

: The SOE was disbanded rather quickly (some say embarrassingly so) after WWII and the SIS again took over complete control of intelligence outside Great Britain.
