"No, I don't. However I feel it is my duty to inform you that I'm now dreading reading this in addition to being excited about reading this.
Call me crazy, but I feel like I know these people personally and really like them all. Its rare that a book really makes me sad. Aside from your books *shakes a fist at you* the other big one was when Nick died in The Stand."
Jeff you don't have to make excuses to me. I totally understand where you are coming from! Greg has a knack for this type of thing and to be honest it gives the books much more weight. Violence has no meaning if nobody ever gets hurt (Ok so I stole that directly from Rucka). Like you, I feel I know these characters on a personal level. What always pains me when someone dies is that I wont be able to see them again in future stories. I wonder what would have happened in their story had they not died and I get "mad" at Greg for robbing us of that. But then I remember they are his characters and it is, after all, his story to tell.
Now look at it from Greg's perspective. YOU think YOU know these charcters and it upsets YOU when they die. Think of all the blood sweat and tears Greg has put into these characters. It must be absolutely agonizing for him to write these scenes. Trust me he's not sitting there saying "Oh if I kill so and so it will really piss them off!!!" But if he took the easy way out and let them all live the book wouldn't nearly affect you the way it does. And you wouldn't be a Greg Rucka fan.
I know you'll enjoy it. Please let me know what you think of it.
