I absolutely love the Flint movies. Have the soundtracks, as a matter of fact!.

Now...Denise Mina. Which one are you reading, Garnethill???? That one's a huge favorite at my store as are the two following that. Her stand-alone novel, Deception, was received with a tad less enthusiasm - mostly because, I suspect, it wasn't a series novel and written with another style of novel in mind. But it's good, she's got talent.

If you like Rankin, I'd also try Simon Kernick. His first, The Businesss of Dying, came out in trade paperback a few months ago. I'm over the moon about his stuff - smart London-based street crime / cops & robbers, with the bad guys often the heroes of the tale.
