Her stand-alone novel, Deception, was received with a tad less enthusiasm - mostly because, I suspect, it wasn't a series novel and written with another style of novel in mind. But it's good, she's got talent.

Deception's the one. I really like the concept of the story and love the tone, but its just pretty slow getting going. I'm about 120 pages in, and the main character is still more or less sitting in the upstairs room, sifting thru his wifes stuff. There is certainly an ominous tone of things to come, but pretty soon the hammer gonna have to drop or there won't be any room left in the book for anything to happen.....

I'll put Kernick on the "to read" list too. thanks for the heads up!
