: Too true. But thats certainly also the case with the Atticus novels. Shooting At Midnight would never be as good if you hadn't come to care about the characters over the 3 previous books.....possibly more than any other thiller/mystery writer, Rucka seems to build up such....emotional momentum (for lack of a better term) with his characters. Each novel adding another level of dimension.

While I agree with Maggie on Alena and Atticus being favs, I have to rate Bridgett and Natalie right with them. Bridgett really has it for Atticus (I'm a real sucker for that) and will do anything for him. Natalie stays with Atticus in Critical Space when no one else will.
Bridie and Nat are incredibly likeable even though Bridgett can be a bi@#h on occasion.
