Tara and Alena

Just got to thinking. Why does Alena come off as a murderous evil person and Tara as a British patriot? They both do the same thing. They both ultimately kill for their flag. Although the people waving the flag for England seem to be shown in a somewhat better light in Greg's Minder One books than the "flag wavers" in the AK novels.
