Yeah, I've read and repeatedly re-read Shooting at Midnight, attempting to like her. I probably stated that wrong. I don't hate her character, I respect it and usually enjoy the scenes with her, but I still dislike her. As I said, I'm not a fan of repeated love interests for series characters, as they tend to soften the edges of what makes the characters intresting.

For the record, I put the spoiler al3rt because I made reference to a couple of scenes in Critical Space that are pretty central to the ending. Maybe they weren't that big of spoilers, but I figure better safe than sorry.
